Autel Robotics Evo at a Glance

The Evo is an impressive quadcopter that offers a range of top-quality features never before seen in this price range. Let us take a deeper look at the individual specifications.

Flight Time

The Autel Robotics Evo is fitted with an impressive battery. The drone is advertised to have a flight time of 30 minutes on a full charge, which is among the longest, if not the longest, at this price range. However, testing it in real-world conditions revealed that it can manage about 26 minutes in the air, which is still quite impressive.

It can accomplish this because of a high-quality 13.05V 4300mAh Li-Po battery that will require about one and a half hours to fully recharge. The intelligent battery also comes with a one of a kind storage self-discharge protection feature which helps to avoid damage.

If you leave it idle for six days with a voltage higher than 12V, the smart battery will discharge automatically to a default 70% of total power. The discharge process will take about 2 to 3 days. The battery is not short of amazing but if you want to use the drone in a professional setting, you’ll need to get a spare battery.

Control Range

The drone has a range of about 7km, which is quite a distance and should be more than what you would normally require. It can reach such distances at a super-fast speed of 72km/h. Luckily, it is equipped with ultrasonic and IR sensors that manage to keep it from crashing into obstacles even at these high-flying speeds.

The drone is generally easy to fly! Its compact and ergonomic controller comes with a 3.3-inch full-color display and straightforward controls like the take-off and return home buttons. It also features a phone mount, although you don’t need a smartphone to get the drone’s video feed.

Autel Robotics Evo 2 Drone Color

The drone comes equipped with a 4K UHD camera that allows you to capture footage at high resolution. The camera shoots 2.7K videos and stills at up to 8.3MP, making for very detailed images. It also has a 120-degree field of view, which enhances the extent of details in your footage.

Having said that, the F11 Pro doesn’t perform well when it comes to color reproduction. This is one area it lags behind quadcopter models like the DJI Mavic Mini and Air.

Another shortcoming is that the camera doesn’t have a gimbal stabilizer, which might cause your footage to be a little bit shaky. On the bright side, you get a 90-degree adjustable motion range to change perspectives.

The Autel Robotic Evo comes equipped with a 12MP camera that can record high-resolution 4K videos at 60fps. The camera is mounted on a platform with a 3-axis gimbal to keep it stable and enables the pilot to shoot clear pictures and footage even in extreme weather conditions. It also offers auto exposure bracketing, which ensures you don’t miss your shot in tricky lighting conditions.

The images produced are stunning and the color reproduction is amazing. Also, you won’t notice any shaking on the videos and the resolution is quite impressive, thanks to the 1-inch sensor (like the one you find on the Mavic Pro 2). While there is no internal memory on the drone, a single microSD card slot that can hold a 32GB memory card has been conveniently included.

Flight Experience

The Autel Robotics Evo offers a great drone flying experience. Despite its compact frame, it is a very stable drone in the air. Aside from its sturdy build, the quadcopter features a dual GPS/GLONASS system that allows for a steady hands-free hover.

Intelligent failsafe features like Return to Home ensure that you won’t lose your drone when you fly it out of range while obstacle detection sensors on the nose and tail steer it away from imminent collisions in the air.

The drone uses a brushless motor that makes it quite fast and agile in the air while flying with a low sound profile. The controller is compact, light, and ergonomic to hold. Its 3.3-inch full-color display gives you the luxury of viewing the drone footage without a smartphone.

Autel Robotics Evo 2 Drone GPS

Dedicated controls for takeoff and landing makes it easy for amateurs to fly this drone. Overall, the Evo is a joy to fly and promises a long-lasting and fun piloting experience.

What Do We Like?

Aside from the charming colors on its body, the drone has a compact and foldable design that makes it very portable. It will be easy for you to throw in your bag where you’re on the go.

Autel Robotics Evo

The 4300mAh battery enables the drone to stay hovering in the air for almost half an hour, which is more than you can find in higher priced drone models. The intelligent battery also comes with self-protective features that enhance its durability.

The GPS/GLONASS system makes for a stable hover when playing with the drone while obstacle sensors on the nose, tail, and bottom avoid aerial collisions, as well as encourage safe landings.

The camera is high quality and can shoot high-resolution 4K videos and stills at 12MP. The 3-axis gimbal stabilization it is fitted with ensures that you capture clear photos even in unstable and windy conditions.

The controller is ergonomic and the 3.3-inch color display it comes with ensures that you view the quadcopter’s footage without connecting to a smartphone. It generally has easy to use controls and its 6300mAh battery is even bigger than the one on the drone itself.

Users can make the most of the quadcopter's intelligent flight functions such as orbit and dynamic tracking to enhance the experience. A VR headset helps to immerse you into the experience, ensuring that you won’t easily forget the moment.

Overall, the Evo does not offer as many automatic flight modes compared to the DJI drones.

Advice to Buyers

The Autel Robotics Evo quadcopter comes with an appealing price tag. When you weigh this against the features it brings to the table and overall performance it offers you, I don’t need to tell you that you’re getting a good deal here.

It will be a nice choice for intermediate users looking for their second drone model, but advanced pilots can still get in on the fun. The superior features on this compact drone are surely going to interest them.

Autel Robotics Evo 2

Even though you cannot dispute the stranglehold that DJI has on the monopoly of high-quality consumer drone cameras today, the Evo is a formidable rival that can stand toe-to-toe with most of the DJI models. The manufacturer has managed to squeeze multiple high-level features on its diminutive frame, and its sub-$1000 cost allows you to enjoy a big bang for your buck!
